Strategic Operating Plan The Stephens Group assisted the COO of an international apparel company and his staff with the development of a Strategic Operations Plan for International Operations. The company had acquired a number companies and brands over several years and had not developed a comprehensive plan for combined domestic and foreign operations. The objectives for the plan included:
a reduction in the number of facilities operated internationally, a reduction in the total cost of operations and a reduction of overall manufacturing cycle time.
Functional areas included:
Manufacturing, Distribution, Product Development, Planning, Purchasing and Customer Order Processing.
The Team coordinated information gathering and planning and review meetings for the Operations Management group. We assisted management in the identification of operations changes and improvements in the following areas.
Consolidation of operations, Re-organization of Operations management and staff, Product flow and manufacturing operations improvements, Systems improvements, Planning for closing high-cost domestic and foreign operations and Relocating/consolidating in lower cost domestic and foreign locations.
The following initial results were achieved as a result of implementing the plan:
Significant reductions in global inventories, Reduced "concept to market" lead times, Improvements in manufacturing productivity and Improved levels of customer service.
